The Crypt and The Asylum are Le Donjon de Paris's two horror escape rooms, with an advertised fear level of 4.5/5. For a more measured experience, The Immortal and The Cursed Lovers offer a Thrill atmosphere, less intense but just as immersive.
The Crypt versus The Asylum
The Crypt plunges you into a séance organised by the Count in his family crypt, between a cabinet of morbid curiosities and a colonial parlour. The Asylum has you live through Dr Molay's experiments on the human mind, between science and madness. Both rooms share the same fear level (4.5/5) and adjustable difficulty, but tell two very different stories.

Is it really scary?
Yes. The Crypt and The Asylum are designed for adults, and their fear level is already set to the maximum: it cannot be pushed any further. Dim lighting, sound and light effects, macabre sets and a character played by your game master keep the pressure rising throughout the game. That is why we do not accept players under 16: younger players would risk giving up mid-game.

A real actor in the room
At Le Donjon, your game master is also an actor: they play a character in the adventure, and in our horror rooms their physical presence is part of the experience. In The Asylum, at one point each player ends up locked in a narrow restraint cell; in The Crypt, at one point you have to go through a narrow tunnel, oppressive for claustrophobic players. Horror or thrill, what’s the difference
Our Thrill rooms, The Immortal (3.5/5) and The Cursed Lovers (2.5/5), rely on progressive tension and a mysterious atmosphere, without aiming to shock head-on. Our Horror rooms, The Crypt and The Asylum, go further in the intensity of sets and staging, for an advertised fear level of 4.5/5.
How to adjust the fear level
The fear level can be lowered on request: after booking, send us the date and time of your session so we can brief your game master. The experience nevertheless remains scarier than The Cursed Lovers, and the character is still physically present. On the day, if a player is too scared, the game master can also lower the intensity during the game.
If horror is not for you, our Adventure rooms such as The Last Templars, The Alchemist, Witches! or The New World offer an immersive experience centred on exploration and puzzles, with a much lower fear level.
From what age
Our horror rooms The Crypt and The Asylum are accessible from age 16, with an accompanying adult mandatory for 16-17 year-olds; without an adult, every player must be at least 18. Our other rooms are open from age 12, with an adult for 12-15 year-olds.
Horror for two players

Every October, Le Donjon Maudit takes over Le Donjon: a one-hour immersive Halloween journey with around ten actors, in private sessions for 3 to 8 players, performed in French. A different format from our escape rooms, for those who want to meet the creatures of the dungeon face to face.
