Plague doctors, the ghost of the White Lady, all-new voice-overs, new puzzles and a reworked finale: The Cursed Lovers move to version 2.

An escape room is never truly finished, and we are the first to see its flaws. When we opened this adventure in 2023, we calibrated it for an “easy” difficulty level. Its reputation, and its finale in particular, have since drawn many experienced and international players, for whom the game lacked a little… challenge and depth. For The Cursed Lovers, we decided to go further than small adjustments and rework the adventure in depth.

A story that deserved more

The Cursed Lovers tells a key moment in Le Donjon’s story. In a medieval village struck by a curse, players discover Léa, the Count’s forbidden love, accused of witchcraft and sentenced to burn at the stake. Her death drives the Count to try everything to bring her back to life, and connects most of our adventures.

The room’s sets, its alleys and its inn, were already among the most ambitious things we had built. We wanted the gameplay and staging to live up to them.

What’s new

  • New characters. Plague doctors now roam the village, and the ghost of the White Lady haunts the adventure.
  • All-new voice-overs. The entire narration has been re-recorded.
  • New puzzles, which refresh the game flow.
  • Many more props. Numerous props have been added throughout the adventure.
  • A reworked finale. The final scene has been completely redesigned to give Léa’s story the ending it deserves.

Why rebuild rather than create

Opening a new room always gets more attention than improving an existing one. But our adventures form a single story, and each one has to stand up to the others. Improving the rooms we have already opened is also a way of thanking the players who have trusted us from the start.

If you have already played The Cursed Lovers, the new version has real surprises in store. If you have not played it yet, now is the perfect time.
